Embark on a unique and exhilarating adventure with our ‘Inca Trail Connection: Lares to Machu Picchu – Alternative’ tour. This extraordinary journey seamlessly blends the renowned Inca Trail with the less-traveled Lares route, offering a distinct and captivating perspective of the Andean landscape.
Itinerary
We depart at 6:00am from Cusco by private bus, picking you up at your hotel. We travel through the Sacred Valley to the hot springs of Lares, where we’ll enjoy a great lunch. Then we start out two hour hike to our campsite in Wacawasi where we’ll have dinner..
After breakfast we go to the first activity of the day: observation of Alpaca fabric weaving. Then we start our climb to the pass of the Condor (approximately 4100m.a.s.l.). Here we will enjoy the incredible view of Mount “Veronica” at 5750 m, recharge to continue our hike to Lake Epsaycocha, where we have lunch. Afterwards we hike to Yanahuara where we set up our camp and have dinner.
After breakfast we will go by bus to Ollantaytambo where we will take the Expedition Train to KM 104 at 6.10 a.m. The guide will direct you on foot to the ruins of Chachabamba where the tour will begin. We will pass through a small and refreshing waterfall on the way to the ruins of Wiñayhuayna where the impressive platforms will demonstrate the skill of Andean engineering. After lunch we will then continue the walk to Inti Punku (Puerta del Sol) from where we will have the first sight of Machu Picchu as a beautiful panoramic of the town on the hill. From here we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes where we will spend the night and prepare for the following day up at Machu Picchu.
At 5:30 am, after an early breakfast, we begin the trek to Machu Picchu where we will have a guided tour of the different sectors of the archaeological complex, including the Intihuatana or sundial, used by ancient Peruvians settlers. To climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu you can choose the second group at 10:00 a.m. takes about an hour walking and it’s really worth it; the view is breath taking and the experience will be unforgettable. We will board the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo at 18:20, make sure to be at the station at least half an hour in advance. In Ollantaytambo there will be a driver waiting outside the station to bring you back to Cusco.
Note:If you want to climb Huayna Picchu or Montaña Machu Picchu, you need to book at least three months prior. This activity is optional (Price USD 70).
