Qoyllur Rit’i (THE APU OF THE SNOWS)

H'ayo H'ayo Little brothers!!!!!!

The first time I traveled to the Lord of QOYLLUR RITI, was in 2014, I went with the idea of “knowing” without thinking that it would be a long and arduous journey to reach the sanctuary, to meet the Apu AUSANGATE.
From then on there is no year that I have not gone to visit the LORD OF QOYLLUR RITI, and recharge energies with the majesty of the APU AUSANGATE.

A star that radiates ancestral energy to his people who seek him with faith to ask for favors and to entrust him with their sorrows.
Qoyllur Rit’i means morning star and rightly so because it is the star that illuminates all the way to the SINAKARA, the place or the pampa where the sanctuary is located.

To begin our walk we must arrive at the town of Ocongate, which is about three hours from the city of Cusco, there we will find vehicles that can take us to the sanctuary if we do not want to walk because it is 8 kilometers uphill to reach the LORD (APU), although it is best to make the pilgrimage because we will find beautiful scenery and many surprises that will make our journey unforgettable.

MARIANITO MAYTA AND THE LORD OF QOYLLUR RITI

This history goes back to the beginnings of the republic when the hike was carried out exclusively by the settlers and commoners of the area:
Marianito was a peasant boy, the younger of two brothers who lived with his father and older brother in the town of Ocongate. He was constantly mistreated by his older brother who entrusted him with tasks that were not proper to his childhood, such as going to graze the alpacas in the mountains, and these journeys were hard and exhausting for a child.

Marianito hated to go to fulfill these tasks, because he only wanted to play and share with his friends, but things changed suddenly when he found himself in the mountains high up in the farthest place near the sky I would say with a boy named Manuel, who became his most inseparable companion tasks and especially games, who became his most inseparable companion of tasks and above all of games, Marianito’s attitude changed now he was the one who wanted to go to do those arduous jobs that his older brother entrusted him because he knew that his little companion Manuel would be there waiting for him on the top of the mountains to play with him.

Marianito’s strange attitude alerted his father, who wondered: If my son did not want to go to work with the alpaca to the mountains before, why now he does it and with so much joy, this intrigued Marianito’s father more and more, who decided to know the reason of all this decided one day to follow him without him realizing that he was being followed, and it was there where Marianito’s father was surprised to discover that his son was in the heights in the mountain with a little boy that I would say and the oral traditions say it and maybe even from the same mouth of Marianto’s father. that the appearance of the boy who played with Marianito was not typical of the place where they were, he was a blond, white and above all white boy, what most caught the attention of Marianito’s father was that the two children played and treated each other as if they knew each other for many years, but above all that they both played and danced the CHUNCHO dance.

When the father witnessed all this, he went quickly to look for the town’s parish priest and report what he saw, that there was a strange child in the mountains and possibly living alone, so a group was organized to look for this mysterious child who answered to the name of Manuel or so at least we knew, so the group rushed up to the mountains in search of this mysterious child they found him playing with Marianto, they tried to capture him, they chased him all over the mountain they could not catch him, but at the last moment they surrounded him in a gigantic black rock, they were about to catch him, but at that moment the boy Manuel disappeared it was as if the rock had absorbed him, everyone was astonished, for his part Marianito did not stop looking for his friend Manuel, he searched for days, the tradition says that Marianto died of the sadness of not seeing his friend again Shortly after the surprising disappearance of Manuel and the lamentable death of Marianito, on the rock where Manuel disappeared, an image of a brown CHRIST began to take shape, a CHRIST WITH AN INDIGENOUS FACE, melancholic and sad, who was known as the Lord of QOYLLUR RITI or star of the snow, while MARIANITO MAYTA was buried at the foot of the rock of the LORD OF QOYLLLUR RITI.

It is said that from the tomb of MARIANITO MAYTA sprouted a TALLANKA tree, which was cut and used to carve the LORD OF TALLANKANI, but that is another story, if you want to know more about our culture do not hesitate to visit us.

MARIANITO MAYTA
Chuncho dance, the one danced by Marianito Mayta and the boy Manuel, is said to be the favorite dance of the LORD OF QOYLLUR RITI.

The hike to the SEÑOR DE QOYLLUR RITI is beautiful, it reaches enchanting landscapes and above all an incredible fauna in spite of being at more than 4000m.a.s.l. m, sometimes it snows, but it is not an impediment to continue with the walk and to know the APU, to receive its good energies and to return to our homes full of positive energies and above all a walk to reencounter ourselves with our spirit, because in the whole SINAKARA hoyada different Andean rituals are carried out, like payments to the earth, encomiendas, greetings to the sun.

How to break the sacred character of a city; which had in its temple something as fragile as dreams on tired eyelids as fragile as dreams on tired eyelids and that sheltered, also, the same and feared death; without discriminating and feared death itself; without discriminating against life, its twin. The only thing the arrogant viceroy the arrogant viceroy succeeded was syncretism, integrating the icons of his world with the with the immaterial energies of ours. Repeating himself over and over again
