Located in South America: Peru, in the southern region of Cusco Peru, which will satisfy the most demanding hikers and will receive unforgettable memories such as sumptuous high mountain panoramas, formidable glaciers and crystalline rivers, lakes, peaceful pastoral scenes of alpaca herds maintained by the Andeans and the clothes of various colors, this new route out of the ordinary a day trip, is a true adventure through a preserved and wild nature, where the only reigns to be for Vinicunca: the rainbow mountain – mountain of 7 colors “Pucapunta” punta roja and small communities of Quechua-speaking descendants.

The route reaches a circuit of scale, going through the collars located between 4710 and 5200 m.a.s.l. then turn towards the exit point of the circuit. Exploring on this remote route, you will see few or no hikers rarely, so you have this extension all the way south.

Itinerary

Day 1:Cusco - Rainbow Mountain - Cusco

We will pick you up from your hotel around 4:30am – 5:30am and go head south through the Cusipata district (2 hours by bus) where we’ll have breakfast. Then we continue along the road through small villages until we arrive to the community of Hanchipata – Quesiuno (1 hour and 20 minutes by bus), the ideal starting point to walk the route. We will see awesome mountains such as Ausangate, beautiful blue lagoons, and many other natural places. The walk to Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain) will last approximately 3 hours. At this peak, we will savour the view for about an hour taking photos of the beautiful scenery before descending the path and returning to our bus. We will go back to Pitumarca for have lunch and then we’ll get back to Cusco.

Day 2:Cusco - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Getting a very early start to the day, we will be picking you up in your hotel at 3:30am. We take a bus to Ollantaytambo where we will board our 6:10am train to a Machu Picchu village, which is popularly known as Aguas Calientes, “hot waters”. The trip lasts approximately 1hr & 50min. Once arriving to Aguas Calientes we take the bus heading to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu where we have a 2.5 hour guided tour, concluding with some free time for you to explore. We take a 9:50pm return train to Ollantaytambo and then bus to Cusco. You will want to arrive half an hour early to the train station in Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.

There are 2 seasons in Machu Picchu: the dry season and the rainy season. The first one takes place between April and October, it is characterized by little rain and a sunny climate. The rainy season runs from November to March and is characterized by constant rains.

How much luggage can I take on the train?

On trains to Machu Picchu you can only take hand luggage that should not exceed 5 kilos (11 pounds).

Can Machu Picchu be visited by people of any age?

Yes, it can be visited by people of all ages. However, in order to ascend Huayna Picchu mountain, it can only be visited by people older than 12 years old.

From what time can I enter Machu Picchu?

Public access is from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
