Itinerary
The Bus will pick us up at the hotel at 5 am and will transport us to the Curahuasi district for our breakfast. After breakfast we will continue driving the same bus until San Pedro de Cachora (3 hours) and Capuliyoc, where we will begin the walk. This will be the first section of descending, until we reach the Chikiska zone. After lunch, we will descend until Rosalinas breach of the Apurimac River, from this zone will continue walking up approximately 3 hours to arrive at the first campsite at Santa Rosa Baja. On this day, we will walk for between 7 and 8 hours according to the speed of the group.
Again, very early and after breakfast, we will begin a physical day of hiking which will also be very rewarding. The path takes us to the top of the mountain to Marampata (3000 m.a.s.l.) where we will have our second breakfast and regain energy which will allow us to reach the summit of Choquequirao (3350 m.a.s.l.). Here we will our lunch, rest for the day hopefully witnessing a beautiful sunset from our comfortable tents. This day contains 8 km of walking.
We will begin the day at 6:30 am where, after breakfast we will come back to Chiquisca via the same route. Along the route we will hike down and up for arriving to Chiquisca, where we will camp overnight for our last camping site. This day will contain about 7 hours of hiking.
The day activities start at 7am for the final leg of the trip. There will be a final viewpoint that we hike up to called Capuliyoc. From here we will be able to appreciate Choquequirao archeological inca city, the Apurimac River Canyon, Padreyoc snow caped mountain, rated by many as being the most spectacular in South America. Completing the journey, where our transport will bring us back to Cusco. We will arrive back at around 3pm. The day walking will take about 3 hours.
